They better do something, fast. Unless I missed one ALL the top grade 1 dirt colts were wiped out this season, now they take their infirmities to the breeding shed to pass along. Maybe that's why on dirt the fillies and mares have been carrying the ball.

I'm sure you are right, tv, but it seems that some horses like to run at the racetrack better than others...some do not like to perform on demand

yes they live and breathe to RUN that is what they are gentically pre-ordained and programmed to do. Read ANY study of animal behavior and the primary defense mechanism of a horse's protetction is to run, To run and to run. From time imemorail that is how they survived had a evolutionary niche to advance so they could breed (the fastest oens) and so to promote that niche to all their offspring, Even the little Eo Hippus had the same defense mechansim to which man latched on to and made into a conditioned reflex. Horse run out of a modified and program fight or flight response. That is it, NOTHING more complicated than that. I love these animals BUT on the IQ scaled they do no have a very lofty position.

no see what velcoites a horse has overcome. That is all a horse represents in a race, segemtnal velocities to the wire....We simply put names on those numbers and call it a horse.

Actually, believe it or not, horses are more than figures and numbers. They are living, breathing, animals, that have off days, quirks, likes and dislikes just like you and I. Unfortunately, good horsemanship is often sacrificed to percentages and numeric values.

I love watching animal shows. While watching one on Zebra's, closest relatives to horses it was interesting that that the sire of a mature filly wouldn't let the other stallion breed to her until he tested him for stamin, courage, and whatever else. He literally tried to run him into the ground for 12hrs to see if he was worthy, maybe we should use what nature shows us and use it and maybe we'll get healthier horses. I know it's out of the box but why not as this is just a crap shoot for the most part. I probably made mistakes as I "keyboard not type" and can't check to edit what I post so try and read around if this interests you.

Well, that's an interesting idea, but I don't see anyone letting million dollar stallions test each other!
