The preakness was a better distance for Oxbow then the KD, plus he had the one spot at churchill. But I will not be using him or any other horse for that matter, Orb included to finish in the top 3 spots at the Belmont. Horses that have raced in both are going to be at a huge dis advantage going into the Belmont. They have raced twice in the last month and it will show come belmont. Also Oxbow in my opinion cannot go 1-1/2. especially on the front end. So all that have raced in both the KD and Preakness are pitches for me. There will be some well rested ones that will do better in this race!
I agree on Orb but not the other horses Brian talks about in this race. My other I think have a chance are Governor Charlie and second start off a layoff Will Take Charge.
Golden Soul will be no further impact on the preakness nor belmont stakes. Will not even be in the money if he races in either. Simply ran well on the mud where he did well. Inside posts were golden when everyone on the outside was bying for the lead. Golden Soul was a victum of track conditions where it helped him to a second place finish in the KD. There will be no further impact on the last two remaining triple crown races from him. He has had his day in the sun!
I credit JV also for not falling off and being able to get her to 4th at the finish. She almost got 3rd. Any other horse being slammed not just once but twice would have finished last!
Nice hit on the #6 ruffian!
Black Onyx owner is a piece of work. He waited until it was to late for another horse to take his place. They were just pissed they got the 1 hole. Nothing wrong with him other than that. That showed true sportsmanship!
I look at who in all the horses should improve and take another step higher in the KD. In other words horses that have not got it quite right and show signs that they can achieve more than they have. And from all the things I evaluate there are only two that I have found that can and I think get better as a racehorse. They are none other than Revolutionary and Orb. Even though they have done well I think their best is yet to come. Just my opinion.
Dont worry about post 3. Borel won in 2010 from post 4 on super saver. Revolutionary was my pick 8 weeks ago and is still my pick. Borel will do justice on him!
I know that everyone has their horses they like and it's hard to let go and pick another horse that may be better. But don't get lost into odds, favorism, or just spite to stay with a pick you might know may not win. There is a lot to be said about horses that have proven themselves and the fact is that combined Verrazano, Ord and Revolutionary have racked up 6 grade 1, 2 and 3 stakes race wins their last six starts. Now you may be betting agaisnt them, and that's ok. Just remember that they are proven to be top contenders in the KD and not ones that have not won a stakes race. Choose wisely!
I actually agree with travel -vic on the pace will be much faster than alot have seen before the KD. Good point!
