He won a claimer today with Gutierrez aboard.
I'm not too upset about Dreaming of Julia not being able to run in the Derby. With the trainers aware of the new points system, if they had wanted to run her in the Derby, they could have entered her in the Florida Derby. She's clearly been pointed toward the Oaks, and that's where she will go. They can always put her in the Preakness if she comes out of the Oaks well, it's been done before, quite recently, by the same people.
At a mile and a sixteenth, I think the race is Bobby's to lose. But we'll see.
I like this guy simply because of his sire. I want Brown Almighty to be a good horse so his daddy can prove he can sire good horses just like he won good races. (Including his last two, on two different surfaces, once against older horses, while NOT on the steroid.)
That is exactly what I said after the race. He would have won. He absolutely would have won. That Belmont was slower than slow. He was head, shoulders, butt, and tail above anyone else that year. This year will always be painful for me to think about. He had it. He would have done it.
