This is a bummer, he looked like a contender for the Preakness and one that I would have liked to see get a chance.
Can not disagree with any of those points. It's seems like with this crop he won't have the issue of not having a pace to run at in any of the three triple crown races (although it looks as though he will skip the Preakness). And Super Saver absolutely is tactical enough to be placed where trouble is less likely to find him. But Ice Box's trip in this race was especially bad and he nearly overcame it anyway.
Ice Box's trip in the Derby was ridiculaouos. I went back and watched the tape a handful of times and he had to check no less than 3 times on during the stretch run and still would have won if the race was any longer. No discredit to Super Saver, but Ice Box was clearly the best horse on that day, but Super Saver got the best trip.
Ghostzapper is the best racehorse of the last decade. The fastest horse since the advent of the beyer speed figure with a 128 and won at the 1 1/4.
