Ah...Derby memories. They are wonderful....what I remember, anyway. ;) If I remember correctly, I have Derby glasses from 1959-present.
AmbitiousD--I haven't been able to find a video of the race yet. Hopefully there will be something up tomorrow.
oh well...back to my writing...
Might it be Regret?
It was reported this morning that Cape Blanco will be (more than likely) coming over for the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Belmont on Oct. 2. They are looking at the QEII Challenge at Keeneland for the filly Together. So, probably So You Think and/or Treasure Beach for the Arc.
I think Godolphin will see how Blue Bunting does in the St. Leger this week, and then plan from there. I wouldn't be surprised to see her in the Arc line up. She's a tough, classy filly.
She was very impressive in her last start...which was against colts, too. So it won't be the first time she's faced them
While I'm wishing someone a bit more experienced was riding, "young'' J.P. O'Brien has already won a group I...and a classic to boot. He won the Irish 2000 Guineas on Roderic O'Connor back in May. He almost stole the Epsom Derby, too.
With Approval and Izvestia have always been two of my favorites. I'd like to mention that the two colts were out of half-sisters (Passing Mood and Shy Spirit). When I was in college, I did an internship at Three Chimneys Farm in 1986 (oh so many years ago!). One of my favorite mares there was Cool Mood, who was both of the colts granddam. One of the reasons she was my favorite was that she was foaled the same year I was. LOL
