If you are going to win major races best they be the Triple Crown races. If you do it as a 4yo against open horses it won't be remembered as vividly even though you are meeting fully mature horses at level weights with deeper more experienced fields in general. You have to be very good to win the Triple Crown but I cannot help but feel that horses like Dr Fager and Native Dancer have been underrated because they didnt win the Triple Crown, despite doing so much in their careers.
Cant deny that any horse who wins the Triple Crown will become a legend of the sport, whether that reputation is a fair representaion of the horses talent is debatable.
I agree Tim, he should extend his range beyond a mile in order to meet the challenges that horses like Dancing Brave and Sea Bird did. If he stays at 10f and under he cannot IMO be rated with them. The Arc is the one he should go for, a win there and he has every claim to best European horse of all time. As for the match up with Black Caviar, it would be great for racing but the Europeans expect every condition to be in their favour and when Peter Moody says no they all claim she is running away from Frankel.....total shit! They either want a match race or they dont, and if they do then they have to be reasonable.
What is I'll Have Anothers timeform rating? If the reasoning you give for Frankel unfairly being behind the mare is based on ratings then surely I'll Have Another should be way behind both of the others.
Timeform had a fantasy match race between the two which took place in Dubai at 7f...thats more like neutrality in conditions. Asking BC to take on Frankel in America over a mile is just like asking Frankel to come to New Zealand and race the mare over 6f.....apparently people must want to give Frankel all the help if they meet because nobody has ever suggested any scenario which involves him making any concessions!
Every single race scenario people suggest for Frankel V Black Caviar is heavily favourable to Frankel. Even the suggestion the race take place over the mile at Santa Anita....thats still Frankels distance and hes still alot closer to home. BC has to concede extra travel, and be at his distance? The race cannot fairly take place at a mile, and if it could it would have to be in Australia. 7f at Goodwood has been proposed in the Racing Post and that is the closest to a fair fight.
Black Caviar would have the same chance of beating Frankel at a mile in Europe as he would have of beating her at 6f in Australia. They are two legends of the sport racing at the same time....a real treat for true racing fans and both should be lauded for their amazing talents.
There is no 'truth' until they meet and as you say they probably won't. It would seem impossible that Black Caviar could beat Frankel at a mile because he is arguably the best of his craft ever and she isn't even a miler. I think Frankel is the best overall racehorse since Secretariat so I am a massive massive fan.....but saying BC couldnt beat him at ANY distance is just foolish. She has demonstrated speed that he hasn't even come close to approaching in his career.
Yeah both AJ and Pierro should be there. Millionaire+ undefeated horses should be there I reckon!
Don't rate Atlantic Jewel? Pierro looks good but it is 2yo form after all and he is no certainty to get 2000m, AJ has already shown that she can, and she has beaten older horses.
