Even tho Union Rags did not win it will be great for us that know he is the best. Maybe we will get 7-1 like we got on Barbaro on Derby day when the media chatter was all about touting horses that got lucky in prior races. As for Borel, KD jockey that has only won it on a sloppy track. Derby comes up fast Borel no where to be found. Hope the two one-dimensional runners Take Charge Indy and Hansen take all the betting action so the bettors can clean up with UR. All the fancy footwork on Derby day wont be enough...pray for rain.
Wow my first impression is Media Hype...My second impression is BS....Please stop trying to convince unknowledgeable people that you are going to turn top horse around in 3 weeks and fly to another country. Besides, he isnt going to run in the US until he is sure of the competition. The fact that people think he is the best at any distance proves what I am saying. If you want to make that claim forget about the stupid QE 2 stakes and take on the best at the BC Mile or Turf...Besides dont even think about the classic. It amazes me how much people wanna compare this horse against great established horses when he hasnt even made it to 4 yrs old. Part of being great is being able to last more than one year. He will stay in UK all next year until he is sure he can beat the competition and then come over. Also please stop thinking he is great because he beats up on fillies and mares...Fillies and mares are great if they beat males but not vice versa. Goldikova is trying for 4th BC and Frankel might get one attempt. The male Rachel Alexandra in the making.. Anyone wanna wager is year is over after tomorrow? Dont think so.
Oh sorry forgot to make my point comparing to Rachel Alexandra. They ran her against the boys in some inconsequential race in October against mediocre Grade 1 company so they could say it was too close to the BC Classic, so they wouldnt have to race against Zenyatta. And then the next year we saw how that so-called rivalry ended up. Dont think Goldikova and Frankel will ever meet because Goldikova will be retired after 2011 BC. Why not.. only ran in it for 4 straight years..nothing special right? lol..
Frankel is another Rachel Alexandra. They are going to the Queen Elizabeth because it is too close to the BC Mile to really be considered. Goldikova is just tenative for the QE but will be at the BC because she has a record that will not be broken anytime soon. Why are here best years behind her? You mean because she lost in the same race as last year carrying 7 pounds more than the winner and the dead outside post? Frankel will run in the QE for sure. Goldikova will not. Pure marketing nothing more. Why should Goldikova run in a race that is way less prestigious than the BC Mile to face a horse that could easily run in the BC Mile. Frankel will run in the BC Mile in 2012 and be retired. It is also so amazing that the so called greatest miler in the world that is a colt, needs to worry about a mare. The QE will prove nothing if Goldikova does not run. The connections for Frankel can easily afford to run at the BC but to say this is more prestigious of a race is stupidity. To be the best you have to beat the best. The challengers have to find the champ...not the opposite.
RA was a great 3yo...As a 4yo she was not..no better than an average stakes horse. Please start judging horses on what they accomplish but do not confuse good one year and bad another year with horses that were great for their whole career. Its really time to put this Rachel Alexandra stuff to rest. Forget the media circus that propelled her to the top. Calvin Borel is an average jock at best. Won 3 Kentucky Derbys all run in the slop. Never really won any other big races. This years derby on a fast track and all Calvin Borel fans were saying what happened? Rachel had a very short one year career just like all the other supposed great horses. To be great you have to be great for more than one year. Any trainer can cripple a horse to run lights out for a year and then retire them. Rachel came back at 4 but should have been retired. As Goldikova tries to run at top form for the 4 season you guys are arguing about a horse that could only make it one year. And she was no better than horse like Go for Wand, Personal Ensign etc...the only difference now is that with the media to push the issue you have more credit given to horses that need to get a rest. Just remember the trainer can make and break a horse..so please let me know how many multi-season runners that Steve Asmussen has in his barn that you have ever heard of?..end of story.
The travers will be a good comeback time. Mid August will give him time to recoup and get fit again. Besides he doesnt really need to be 100% to beat this crop of 3 yr olds this year. Cant wait to see him back at the track. He was the only Triple Crown threat this year.
Wow so you think maybe there was a conspiracy to overdose the horse rather than the trainer saying that he didnt give him the steroid shot coupled with the fact that there were obvious foot problems since Boundary offspring always end up with foot problems. He was probably overjuiced for all the other races anyway but since a larger dose of winstrol would not negatively affect performance we can rule out that claim. It was obvious the connections were not concerned about the horse's well being since the foot problems leading up to the race were obvious. Unfortunately for Big Brown, he did not get race off to recouperate because of the obsession with owners to get the Triple Crown. AP Indy was scratched last minute from the KD and missed the Preakness because of a foot problem. Greedy owners, trainers and the media hype.
I agree. I would have liked to see The Factor in the race to guarantee the pace but now Dialed In has to deal with a suspect group of 3yr olds and non of them are very fast. Unfortunately Dialed In will have to go around a lot of bad horses that got into the field because of injuries to the good ones. Oh well if it is a fast track look for him closing like a train. Pray for the clean trip.
Borel has never done anything in the Derby except on a sloppy track. Pray for the slop and as usual Borel is on another horse that is not really a Derby contender. Why do you think he never has a Derby mount until the last minute? Looks like the weather will be crap again but this allowance horse is questionable as usual.
The fact that Mine that Bird even got into the Derby shows how bad that crop of 3 yr olds was that year. And as typical for the winners of the Derby that were ridden by Calvin Borel, he never did anything again. Once again this year is another bad crop of 3 yr olds and anybody that thinks any of this bunch can win the Triple Crown should think again. I am sure that the winner of this years Derby will be the same as the past few years. If the track is sloppy again look for whatever Calvin Borel rides to win. Calvin Borel has never done anything in any Derby where the track was not sloppy. He is a rider for course and bad weather conditions and nothing more.
