Owners are in this game to win. Smart owners stay home, pick their spots, and win. This is what they're doing with Point of Entry. Dumb owners who feel they have something to prove to go take on international company for no reason other than to boost their egos. I'm cheering for him, but I doubt Animal Kingdom will have much success in Dubai and England. Point of Entry, however, will be very successful staying here.
I think he's a bit over-hyped. He's definitely talented, but putting him on the top of a Derby list at this point is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. Interesting to see how he'll do against big fields in stakes races, instead of 6 horse Allowances.
I agree that Verrazano should be on the list, but definitely not even close to 3rd, maybe about 12th. Bern Identity and Goldencents should both be a bit higher IMO
It would be a double standard if American fans were to say "No, don't go to Dubai, but Mizdirection is the greatest horse of all time." Frankel was no doubt a great horse, but he never beat the international company. Therefore no matter how great he was, he'll never be the greatest. Same with Mizdirection, he's a great turf sprinter, but he'll never be the greatest turf sprinter until he ships out of North America and beats the international company. That's the double standard.
I don't think Frankel will be an incredible sire. He won't be bad, but he won't live up to the hype. Good luck to the owners of Midday and I hope they get a good one.
Too bad the QH racing there is such low quality. It's sad that this great track has become a slot track that only has the QHs for the sake of their casino.
Why did they sent Alsvid in that speed duel? Motown Men would have gotten tired on the dead rail even if he had gone alone. The race set up perfectly for Ol Winedrinker Who. Cool that the local won though.
I started following him when he ran in the Haskell, I think he's got major potential to be a very nice horse as he gets older.
