Great point, Kent D was up for this team with Dullahan and Paddy O'Prado so he must've known something. I think Dale Romans knew that he'd be racing on Saturday long before TP confirmed it.
Agree. How many times can a race keep banging on the door before it breaks through. Bound to be an LA Derby starter / Ky Derby winner again sometime soon
Good point........I'm tied to it now.
Agree with both of you. Int'l Star is my top choice from Louisiana. And yes, Keen Ice is a contender I was also hoping to play. But, his effort last out makes me want to leave him out more than keep him in.
Regardless of how she fares, I respect the owner's decision to test her now versus later. 2 champions facing other........can't argue with that either
@pick6sam:disqus Nailed It, Nice Pick 3.
Nailed it! Nice Picks
With KyOaks qualification already in hand would hurt her chances to see if she is good enough? Plus, from an Owners view the purse difference has to be tempting ($750k vs. $150k). Good enough to finish runner-up will pay the owner lots more than winning the Honeybee.
@CauseForConcern:disqus: Great question because you're right, the Louisiana Derby is historically the worst producer of KyDerby winners (Major Preps). But, some connections feel that if there horse is destined for roses, it doesn't matter where they prep.
Love the switch back to dirt - Will be key in producing a better KyDerby finish for a UAE Derby winner. 6 of 15 winners have tried it & the best finish was the first one, China Visit in 2000 (6th). Most recent: Lines of Battle 7th, Daddy Long Legs DNF, Regal Ransom 8th.
