He didn't earn hey beyers. Those aren't high, and actually I was wrong it was a 96 and 95. Neither of those are overly high. His derby was a 101, still not high. He did not get a big beyer until the Preakness where he recorded a 109. Your case is far from closed when his first two Beyers, despite running near the lead and recording fast times, were on the low side. His Derby was not even overly impressive, and it too was a fast race. So how is that case closed in favor of you, when IHA disproves your theory the horse's running style having any effect on their Beyer? It doesn't.

Weather is usualy a non factor on Western tracks, so there is a common variance East to West. No bias is built in at all.

IHA is a stalker who earns high beyers. My case is closed. Compared to the beyers of this year they are very good. Never compare beyers from year to year, each year is unique.

No I don't actually. Not many are impressed with a 101, especially from a Derby horse.Your big Beyers are upwards of 105. Below that an not many are overly impressed. It is good but it's not a big number unless you're a two year old. Three or older people are looking for higer.

We don't sit around as a committee & make the rankings - we just give you, the fans, the platform to make your opinions heard. That said, I personally follow West Coast racing more closely, though I am not currently based in either section of the country :)

Beholder earned that in an allowance race, meaning she wasn't facing the best. She also seems to excell at sprints. Her trainer actually withdrew her from a grade one to run in an allowance. Should she race in the BCJF, she should get more respect, but she has yet to win anything of consquense. Julia, if you didn't watch that race, overcame a delayed start, and being eyeballed around the entire track. In a race that wasn't a truely run race, but more of a match race, she prevailed. Her previous efforts before that were blowouts. Executiveprivillege deserves the number one, and Beholder probably should be ranked slightly higher, but not above a grade one winner who is unbeaten.

Junebug, beyers change from year to year and therefore those who compare different years' beyers are foolish. Last year horses had trouble breaking 100, this year we go to 100 and then some. Beyers are comparative to the other horses at a track, state and possibly region. Taking it further than that is betting names.

cocoa, then tell me why so many big beyer horses lose to others with lower beyers? Based on Beyers, Zenyatta should have finished near the back of each BCC. It never happend. Beyer takes takes nothing but the varient and the overall speed of the race run. Nothing else. So, if there was a delay that doesn't go into it, even though that can affect performance. If a horse went wide, got stopped, or had any sort of trouble that doesn't go into it at all. They are not comparable for that fact alone. If you use only that alone you'll most likey lose out on any bets placed. If there is error then it can not be used as a way to accurately compare a horse.

dani, any triple digit beyer is a big beyer. 101 is a high beyer. 109 is extremely high. You have the ratings mixed up.

It is not based on the individual either, it is how fast the race is run. Yes each horse is given individual beyers, but based on the time they ran, or at least that is what it is supposed to be based on. It does not take into her individual splits but her final time. Another example i can use, I'll Have Another. This was not a horse that was a closer. He stalked. For the Lewis he ran a 102, only a 102 for a 1.40 and change? True the track was fast but only a 102? Santa Anita Derby, 1.47 and change, again one of the fastest preps and he gets a 98. Bode, based on Beyers should have handed this horse his head. Their styles both had them on or close to the front, so it's not like they were running slow for the majority of the race, a reason you listed, yet IHA was given a 102 and a 98. Another flaw in your reasoning.

Zenyatta was a closer. Anyone who understands BSFs will understand that since closers run at a slower pace for the majority of the race they are not nearly as highly rated through BSFs. That is why BSFs rate speed horses higher.

LOL, have to laugh.. it used to be that a 105 Beyer was a slow horse.. now adays it is fast. NOT@ Horses are just not good anymore

Dani, BSF are comparable against any field. While there was in error in judging a horse by them, BSFs are a way to compare horses' races.
