why did Bernardini only race 1 year?

i got him in the futures too-

Years ago i bet this horse in the Blue Grass Stakes- and picked up the exacta- it was a nice payout- so every time i see him run- no matter what- i put a few bucks on him

i remember winning big with this horse- and Aqueduct and Philly- big odds- great in a stretch run
