Schoolofhardrocks has a ton of talent, but California Chrome is no pushover.
It's silly to race this colt at 7 furlongs. He needs 2 turn experience. Let's get serious because this is a serious colt.
Laurie : I think you should consider exploring Indianapolis. He has all the traits of a top colt, great mind, the ability to use tactical speed without pulling, the professionalism to race between horses without getting intimidated and he finishes like like a colt that will improve with distance. I respect your opinion and your take on this colt would be appreciated.
I have rarely seen a green 3 yr. old show as much professionalism as this colt did in his first two starts. He doesn't pull. He doesn't mind racing between horses. He has tactical speed, but also has the ability to come from off the pace. He also is stronger at the end of the race and runs "through" the wire not to the wire. If his two turn performance is what I think it will be. then that added to his outstanding pedigree. should make him a serious contender for the Derby. Of course he has to stay healthy. Baffert has also assigned "Superstar" status to this colt and he rarely does that.
The Derby is his to lose. Let's see how he handles the CD surface in workouts.
You couldn't drag a More Than Ready 1 1/4 miles
Cherokee Run will be his undoing at 1/1/4 miles
Union Rags won't race again. He got lucky in the Belmont and why risk lowering his stud value.
Union Rags ran no faster than before, but this race was so slow that even his previous speed rating made his win possible. He ran just as fast at 2. IHA or Bode would have crushed this group.
The only wild card would be Unstoppable. The rest including UR and Dullahan are not good enough.
