Here's a photo of my 2015 colt out of Top Billing's half-sister Talent Queen (Elusive Quality-Parade Queen). He's by Understatement, a NY SW son of Distorted Humor that earned a 115 Beyer. This colt already has his Jockey Club approved name - One True King.
That was a big effort. I own his half-sister Talent Queen, and have long been cheering for this colt to fulfill his potential. His running style is certainly nerve-wracking! Ever time he lags behind like that I wonder if he'll fire or not.
What son of Distorted Humor at stud earned the highest Beyer Speed Figure? The answer will surprise you - it's Understatement with a 115!
There are no sure things in horse racing, or horse breeding for that matter. And thank goodness there are not. If everything were 100% predictable, the little guy would have no chance in this game. As for dosage and nicking, they are not entirely without merit, but they only give you part of the picture. They are tools to consider, but should not be solely what a breeder uses to make mating decisions.
Sorry about the double-post. Not sure why that happened.
I'd love to see Fascinating make it back for the Oaks. She's out of my mare Talent Queen's half-sister Untouched Talent.
goblin, yes Talent Queen is my mare. Between the birth of her filly and the big win by Top Billing, it was a very nice day!
1/25/14 - Talent Queen foaled a filly by Kentucky Derby winner Grindstone this morning.
Top Billing's 1/2 sister Talent Queen foaled a filly by Kentucky Derby winner Grindstone this morning. Hope he runs big today!
Fair enough, but I have still yet to see a performance by Mucho Macho Man that equals the best efforts of Cutlass Reality.
