This filly is bred to run ally day and will love the 9f of the Ky Oaks.
Trainer Wes Hawley has experience in the G1 Ashland and G1 Ky Oaks. His Dawn after Dawn was a close 3rd in the former and 4th in the latter.
Happy to read that Wes Hawley has had experience on the big stage with the 3yo filly Dawn After Dawn. His Promise Me More's recent 2nd in the G3 Rachel Alexander sets this filly up for a good run at the Kentucky Oaks. She appears to have unlimited potential.. Listed at 50-1 in the morning line for the Ky Oaks Future Wager March 1-3.
The Royal Lodge may not yield any Ky Derby horses but it may have a say in the BC Juv Turf. Second-place finisher Artigiano and 5th place finiher Fantastic Moon will try the BC Juv Turf. Interesting that jockey K.Fallon who rode the Royal lodge winner Steeler, climbs aboard Fantastic Moon, who will be flying late.
Waterway Run is an intriguing Euro in this race. Won a G3 while being ridden out and also won at York with a left-hand turn. Trainer won the BC Marathon at SA in 2008 with a longshot.
Good point mdracing69. He had a decent workout today. Good local horse to hit the board in the Dirt Mile.
A G1 winner at 10f with a 100 beyer off a 31/2 month layoff. Could have bounced in his 3rd in the Penn Derby. Not many BC Classic candidates this year have won a G1 event at the classic distance.
Canadian based Roxy Gap to BC Turf Sprint? This 4yo filly has raced almost exclusively on grass or polytrack and was 1st or 2nd in graded stakes from 6f to 1m, including a good runner-up to Marketing Mix going 1 mile on grass. Connections are also cinsidering the BC Filly & Mare Sprint at 7f on dirt. With the purse of each event the same $1million, I like her chances better against the boys in the BC Turf Sprint at 61/2f down the hill.
If the14f BC Marathon was run over grass instead of dirt, it would attract more top Euros.
Yes Oaklawn runs the trails end as the last race of the meet. The BC should run the14f Marathon as the last BC race also.
