And yes Sally....Alpha will go off at an insane price. He has been cast aside along with others like El Padrino. Watch out for El Padrino should it rain on Derby day!
THE BEST POSSIBLE OPPORTUNITY....is what I meant to type! Alpha is the first horse to stay in the US after his 2 year old season for Godolphin. The good Godolphin horses usually go to Dubai for a while and some of them return for their 3 year old campaign. Alpha broke that pattern. Simon Crisford decided to keep the colt in the US and BOY has it been a saga! They have taken every precaution with the horse and they really don't care what the media thinks. I think Godolphin takes really good care of their horses and I doubt they would take Alpha to the Derby if he wasn't doing well. He actually was reported to be felling good out on the track at Belmont Park rearing up and throwing his exercise rider up! Sound like Alpha....I think YES.
I bet Alpha at the Wynn Las Vegas Future Book back when he was 125/1, I sure hope Mcglaughlin is right about him being good to go to the Derby. I loved his pedigree when I first analyzed all the horses in the early sports book. Scott Hazelton from HRTV was on the phone with McGlaughlin on the 25th and said Alpha was done with the antibiotics and full of himself again! I am a bit concerned about a rider assignment not being in place for the Derby. I'd rather see Mickael Barzelona fly in for the assignment over Rajiv Maragh. Barzelona just won for The Dubai World Cup for Godolphin. Gary Stevens knows Godolphin well and said that it wouldn't come as a surprise if Godolphin does just that during Pursuit of the Crown on HRTV on Wednesday night. I just hope they give the colt the possible opportunity in the Derby by choosing wisely!
I agree that he is DEFINATELY a horse to watch. He is a half brother to Looking At Lucky and Curlin. His pedigree screams class & stamina! He is one of my top picks for Kentucky Derby top honors.
