Amazing story....It seems like I've been a fan forever....
Two races, looks like the real deal. Hope he doesn't peak too early. It would be a good west coast rep.
Just a thought.... people have said that Goldencents BC win was because of the speed bias. I'm not convinced. Golden Ticket closed well but was positioned to far back to challenge and when he did, GC dug in deeper. Credit Bejaranjo. The only BIAS that GC may suffer from is an east coast writers bias in the Eclipse voting. His year has been outstanding.
I like Goldencents and Bejarano. A win here puts him in the thick of best 3year old or sprint Eclipse. Three grade 1's will be tough to beat. Two grade 1's against older. Two different surfaces and raced the entire year Jan 6 to Nov 30
Here is to Goldencents running similar fractions and winning the Cigar Mile on November 30th.
Ruffian.....Tell the people at Santa Anita. Goldencents is a rock star on the west coast. And as far as inconsistent, you are wrong there...he gives you a great effort everytime other than the off track Derby.
His Santa Anita Derby victory was brilliant and convincingly. Natasha, how can you call that race lucky? Did you watch the same race I did?...I would suggest you go back and watch it. The conditions at the Derby speak for themselves. He was right there for most of the Preakness. This horse is hitting his stride at the right time and it sounds like he will campaign as a four year old. His only battle for 3year old of the year is an east coast bias. This horse energized Del Mar and Santa Anita. Two BIG Grade 1's.
Goldencents has competed steadily since the derby trail. 3 seconds in Grade 1's and now the BC Dirt Mile.
Time to start to consider Goldencents three year old of the year. Santa Anita Derby and now the BC Dirt Mile are impressive. Although he didn't far well in the Derby and Preakness, he didn't fold up after those races and disappear as many of the others have. His three 2nds in graded stakes races were well run and some of the fastest of the year. He continues to improve and looks like his four year old campaign will be incredible. Great ride by Raphael Bejaranjo.
