Returns Friday in the second race at Churchill.
Like you said the 3 year old turf division is not on the national stage at this time of year. If Canterbury would set up a 8.5-9 furlong dirt race with a big purse you guys will get good horses. It's pretty much that simple, like T_V said up there "If you give it, they will come".
Like Mary said, I think you guys had the right idea when trying to get AP to go there. The Mystic Lake Derby should be changed to a 9 furlong dirt race and moved to sometime in July, right now with the timing of it you guys would be competing with the Travers and that's not a good idea. I think it should be in July like the Ohio and Indiana Derbys so it would serve as prep race. The purse also needs to be bumped up, the Ohio and Indiana Derbys are 500k so why would trainers run there for 200k? I don't know what the track can afford but if they would take that $2M they were offering for Pharoah and split it up into a nice day of multiple stakes you could be on to something. Also I don't think there's anything wrong with the events like the dog races, people sometimes get bored in between the thoroughbred races so something like that in between might be a good thing to keep people entertained.
This horse should never be taken out of Maryland again.
Ran a great race, would've won easily if not for the trouble.
Nice! Best yet of his career and now up there with the big boys of the crop.
Anyone know his Beyer yet?
Bittersweet, I was hoping she could return to form this year but it looks like she's actually gone the other way. Its painful to keep watching her lose like that. She's done more than enough and looks like she's had enough.
Just noticed Gun Runner came very close to setting a new track record. The current record is 1:41.04 and GR ran it in 1:41.12 and he wasn't even being pushed!
Gun Runner is the real deal, he looked great today and set a stakes record without being pushed too hard. The future is bright for this one.
P.s. His only try at a grade 1 was the Kentucky Derby, the other race he lost was the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2).
