arazi, bet the early speed and don't lok back
@zXSwordXz, it really would be nice to be talking to only one person per name. I realize that many who write articles use two names but both are known quantities. Great idea!
tmallios1, Let's use a smaller scale to get a closer look at the vigorish/rake. Take ten average poker players at the casino the same two or three win every day. Now were talking about the casual player, much akin to the $2 bettor at the track. Even in a small game of poker with small pots of $100. to $200. per hand and the take out is about 7% the house is averaging $10 per hand rake. Multiply that by a median of 30 hands per hour which is actually low and It comes to $300 per hour, or about what the average player brings to the game. So now were losing one player per hour no matter who wins or loses, as the money comes out regardless. It isn't to long before the game breaks up, or if you have multiple tables they are condensed into smaller groups to fill them up until over a period of time places like Atlantic City are going broke and Vegas isn't far behind. Here's where the vigorish/rake at the track comes in. What was the attendance in the 60s, 70s, 80, 90s and finally now.You think all those people left because they didn't like horse racing, or that maybe their families had a preference to eat, stay warm in the winter, cool in the summer, have a bed to sleep in with a roof over their heads, instead of paying a median vigorish of 19% over all these years which in the end broke them. Look at Santa Anita a few years back when they raised the vig, the high rollers stayed away. How many people that have ever gone to the track do you think have been winners over all, maybe about 5%? That's the big deal, not horses retiring early to breed or anything else, it's all about the take out, period! People think the younger generation isn't smart, there a lot smarter than most of us were. Before they put their money down they learn as much as they can. That's why the influx is so slow, it's not not that they don't understand. The beating heart of this regression is the take out is to large.
travel_vic, a 4 horse box in the tri and you would have had a nice tri...$1.00 Trifecta 7/3/1 $178.20, 6/1 isn't bad when you have a 25% margin of error
I was a little busy with the snowstorm and didn't get in until this minute. I usually do look at these, see what everyone else has and try to find something. I just didn't have time today. Since I didn't look at a form I have no idea of where I would have been...$1.00 Exacta 7/3 $51.30 nice payoffs when one can hit these. For myself the money has always been in the claiming races from a betting standpoint. I realize this was an Optional Claiming bbut there's value there too.
7/3/1/5 order of finish7 $16.60 $8.40 $4.80 3 . $7.00 $4.00 1 . . $2.80
There's a huge difference, I'm real and you're a cartoon character.
Ah, a user name critic, no face, lives in a virtual reality world where one can hide, troll and throw daggers, bye amino
tmallios1, the day I need a "hot horse" from you I'll hang it up. You haven't got a clue after the race is run, yet you expect me to believe you know prior to a race by your expert handicapping. You can't get there without help Tom, and that's the difference between us.I do it from scratch, no speed sheets, rags, thoro,no friends in the business, nuttin at all. As I said before I don't buy your act or you as it reeks of inferiorty. You go upstream because your need that big bad Tom Mallios doesn't need or care about anyone BS and it is BS and you more than anyone know it. Do us all and yourself a favor and drop the tough guy act. Btw: I'm not rafirox, I don't have a clue if it's a man, woman, or child. I am clueless as to who this person really is except for writing an article under the user name ED S. The real identity of Rafirox is yet to emerge, at least for me, and it's no big deal as people who wish to remain anonymous have the right to do so. The thing with that is it costs them credibility as they don't really exist except in virtual reality. Of course that's just my opinion. As much as I have disagrements with you, at least I know who I'm talking to, so I extended you the same courtesy. icyhotboo and Bruce Tarbania, we are one and the same person. I'm not rafi, nor will I ever be!
