Exactly! It's all about the trip (and pace)...There's much more speed in here this year and a better crop of 3yos, so there definitely won't be a Shackleford getting away with a 1:13 and change for 6f.
My exact quote on my blog on April 10th (http://austinbnike80.blogspot.com)..."And I have a funny feeling that Bodemeister will impress in the AD which would move him into my top 4 or 5. LOVE his pedigree and he's a fresh horse. Would definitely be one to watch out for if he has a good showing in the AD. Remember, Curlin was lightly raced coming into the TC trail."...reminds me a lil of Ghostzapper...My top 3 are CC, Gemologist and Bodemeister...Good Luck to all!!
Love this horse going into the Derby! Check out my blog at: austinbnike80.blogspot.com...did a detailed analysis of last year's TC and did rather well..there's a link back to this site as well as some other sites I like to use for the Derby
Gemologist pulls a Barbaro and goes 6 for 6 with his Derby win! CC will run a close 2nd. Side Note: A "rematch" of the '00 BC Classic at CD, in terms of their sires, Tiznow and Giant's Causeway
Can't compare times...AK ran a 1:52 and 2 in the Spiral last year. My top 5 are C Cause, Gemologist, Alpha, U Rags and Bodemeister..Good Luck, everyone!!
I agree!! C cause is still my top pick for the grueling 10f derby distance..he didn't need that race, but needed a good showing and being tested by iha only helped him moving forward to the big one 4 weeks away
In my top 5 right now, along with Union Rags, Alpha, Creative Cause and El Padrino. Rounding out my top 10 are Hansen, Bodemeister, Empire Way, I'll Have Another and Rousing Sermon/Take Charge Indy...ok, 11 then.
Right now he's a cut below the top ones, but I think by late April he'll be peaking. Don't dismiss!
My #1 right now and I've been touting him since last October when I saw that nice late kick in the Champagne. Also, has the pedigree to excel at classic distances. Others I like are Union Rags, Algorithms, Gemologist, Sabercat and El Padrino.
