really excited for the return of THE BIG BEAST! impressive g1 in KB, thought a true player in the sprint division. one of durkins better calls too
I was honestly happy with the clunker. SO many of these big name horses have been keyed up and 100% ready to roll first time out off long lay off. regression was inevitable. based on his money pedigree, should appreciate with age. hard to go 9 f off the shelf in a super tough spot. I think the placing was ambitious, but it was clear on the replay, jockey was told to give him the race
to compliment main sequence even more... no one has been closed out on the GP turf all week. almost every single winner at even competitions (some maidens came from further back) was the stalking trip just off speed. twilight eclipse got the dream set up, perfectly guided by JC. MS is becoming the Wise Dan of the distance older male turf. Late Stride seems familiar. He lets other run their race, gets in the clear, and wins. the last furlong was astonishing...
Dubai tricky spot. he should win based on talent, but WILL he, probably not.
I would be surprised if there was a better trainer for fts on turf or turf in general in the country than chad brown. he has them way more keyed up first time out, and it has been ridiculously profitable.
AP is my horse, but I have this weird feeling the field was the right bet at 5/2 right now. think a few favorites have won, time for a long shot , and not the super logical IHA kind.
it wasn't a true hand ride btw. that is being blown out of proportion. after switching to his dominant right lead, mike smith gave SB atleast 3 left handed whips.
I was very disappointed that liams map missed the race. I prefer him over constitution, but it was a solid race for sure
beyers can be really jokey.
fwiw, GP has been playing sorta slow and not speed favoring this week due to heavy rains. jc beautflly drifted out without impeding or I think lea wins. constitution beat a great horse who loves the track. gotta give some respect. also, gp times are skewed on the front end. its not atypical to have really slow final fractions in every type of race. but it wasn't a golden rail at GP.
ps, love how beyers get inflated for stakes races 20% for the fun of it. look at every race sb runs. minus bc final f and 3 are 12 and 36 are super close to it. its senstational. its something that doesn't get enough love. and while everyone talks about lineage and all these thingst hat relatively ont matter, its my most important factor for picking derby winners. how do they run the last 1-2 f. I think American pharaoh is the best horse by far this year if everyone at 100% bc of it :)
im with you - don't think sb ran at 100% bc he didn't need bc cc wasn't at 100%
haha ... hes not a threat vs shared belief 1 on 1, but he beat hoppurtunity pretty easily, winner of the clark. he won a straight line turf race. theres little substance to those type of races.
