I don't think Dullahan is your horse for the Belmont. Went the Day Well was closing on Dullahan big time. I couldn't believe how he was closing. And with I'll Have Another's gallop out, his mile and half will be no problem. He and Went teh Day Well will battle in the Belmont. Dullahan, maybe.
The record books would be completely different & flat redundant had Turcotte gunned that horse.
Cocoa2...I'm certain that if Lucien gave steroids to Big Red, he CERTAINLY would want his hot walkers to know about it! When you mention that other horses would have been better than Red, like Kelso, you need to realize that Ron Turcotte never went full throttle on him. He hand rode Secretariat in the Marlboro cup in which he galloped out through the mile and 1/4 marker in 1:57 4/5
I have to disagree with the previous comment. Creative Cause, Out of Bounds, Fed Biz, Sabercat...any of these could win the Derby.
There is no question Union Rags was the superior horse to Hansen and I love Hansen.
Head to head, my money goes to Slew. But only if Bid tried to go to the lead with him.
The Factor ran 13.03 last 1/8th so I'm very curious to find out Sway Away's last split.
He's perhaps a MajesticPerfection with a little more distance.
ajump08, I agree wholeheartedly on Sway Away. That was tremendous closing speed he displayed today. He is a very professional horse which I thought he showed in his debut coming from outside gate.
Sway Away had no problem rating, however, and if he can make the distance, he's a serious contender.
