Mighty impressive after a 4 month lay-off!
They said the same thing about Animal Kingdom........
88 beyer rating on DRF for the Palm Beach Stakes??? You got to be kidding??? The numbers don't lie. 1:46.56!!!
Castellano made a big mistake and he knows it. And the more people that don't jump on Union Rag's band wagon the better for me come Cinco De Mayo!
Race horses are like professional athletes, thet get injured all the time. To suggest Pletcher is doing something wrong, or different from any other big name trainer is a stretch. If you want to dive head first into paranoia go right ahead, I'll keep betting on Pletcher trained horses, and cashing in.
Here we go, and I knew it would happen as soon as Algorithms scratched. Union Rags raced against basically noone in the FOY. I don't care! Union Rags came off an almost 4 month lay-off and looked almost effortless to run the second fastest mile and a sixteenth graded race to date, period! Not taking anything away from El Padrino's fantastic performance. But it is extremely difficult for a young colt to come back after a long lay-off like that. And to look so good doing it proves that he IS a legitimate #1 contender in my book!
He looked very impressive in the Borderland Derby. First time I've seen him run, would like to see more of him.
Kinda off topic, but you mention no drugs in NY. Who was the trainer that had I Want Revenge, won the Wood, then got suspended for drugs?
Great performance in the Risen Star! Glad he quiets the nay-sayers who said EP couldn't run on a fast track and hasn't won a graded race. El Pradrino ran the second fastest mile and sixteenth prep race thus far and he did it with no early pace to speak of. That late speed is what I look for in a derby contender!
I was always on the fence about Creative Cause, until the San Vicente. For CC to hang in there against that brutal pace after such a long layoff showed alot of heart to me. He's definitely got the pedigree for the big dance. Can't wait til his next race.
