I liek Union Rags, he has a terriffic build, and has a great stride, but I did see something that was flawed in this article. You said "And you know Matz is going to have him ready for 1 ½", I wouldn't be so sure. I know UR had a really bad trip in the Derby, but I don't think he would have won the race. Julian did \n't give him a great ride, and plus I don't think he was as sharp as most of the horses. Don't believe me? How many times have you seen Matz work a horse "out of a race like the derby" in 59 and change. Cant say i have ever. He knew the horse needed more work and wasn't at his prime in fitness for the derby.
I'll be honest with you, I like Paynter as well, but i just like I'll Have Another much much more. I also did not liek Gemologist at all in the Derby, I dont know why, but I just didnt like him. You can't say he would have won if it wasn't for the foot bruise. You don't know what would have happened. I think I'll Have Another is a great horse that can handle the distance, and the strain of racing 3 times in 5 weeks. Watch his last three races, and see how he heads a horse. He looks at em and fights hard.
I have many concerns regarding your knowledge of horse racing saladino. I'll have another has nothing to worry about the pace, he can relax off the lead or be right there. Have you seen his races at Santa Anita? He has a ton of speed, and fights a horse hard when he hits the stretch. Btw you said gemologist would win no doubt
I actually liked painter after I saw how he finished in the Santa anita derby. He had a really nice way of going and just looks like he would relish the Belmont distance, I do think baffert rushed him, but I think he would live the distance. I loved I'll have another leading up to the Santa Anita derby, and his gaminess made me put him # 1
I'm glad this horse is going to the Preakness. He has plenty of foundation beneath him and has a lot of experience so I think as far as fitness. I don't know his ability to go against these kind of horses but he raced awesome last time and he might be getting the hang of things. I'm glad Doodnauth has another horse in this race. I like his other three year old Shkspeare Shaliyah, probably a good turf horse, but I think he has some ability on dirt as well.
No the trainer does a fine job with this horse. He picked him up for 5,500 bucks, i'd say he's earned it. Doodnauths got a great eye and picks some nice ones. Trains them a little light to my liking, but he's been succesfull and he doesn't crank them up to much for some races at times. He has a versatile training style and can tell what a horse needs. He knows what he's doing and is very good to his horses.
Jockey did fine, Hansen was pulling on him, and he wanted to go and he wasn't gonna choke him down. Jockey did the right thing.
I don't think so, I think Union Rags will be even no less than 5-1, Hasen will probably be about the same. Right now the morning line is up in the air.
I don't blame the jock at all, they know he can rate pretty good, and probably have been galloping him behind horses, and see if he can't carry his speed on the lead, and he did, he went his last 1/8 in 12 3/5 and that's good. If he winds up on the lead in the Derby, then I wouldn't be suprised. If I was the trainer I'd tell the rider to let him break and don't make him work hard to keep up with any position.
Never say that about any horse, you never now who's gonna win.
