The only point I would argue would be the "horses that quit early" toss angle. 2yos that show speed and fade will be a lot fitter 2nd time out. In a 2yo race I will take a speed and fade horse all day. Same angle can be applied for off the layoff horses.

how many times can you beat the likes of kettle corn and others out west. Ron the Greek is one of the most up and down horses I have seen in recent memory. Game on Dude has lost two BCC in a row on his home track. I like this horse a lot but lets get serious he is not deserving of an Eclipse. Any time he runs into a good field he gets beat. Losing the Clark after where he was at the top of the stretch should say it all.
i think the problem with Game on Dude and Lava Man was anytime they faced a star studded field they got beat. They never won a G1 outside Cali. How many times can you beat Kettle Corn before you yearn for real competition? Just my opinion.
Congaree had most of his success at sprints?? Left Bank won the Whitney.
