Does anyone know what the final time of the Belmont Derby was? First they said it is a record time and corrected it later to a time quite slow of over 2 minutes. Wonder how that can be for an important race like that. Wonder whether they would have let the record stand had Toast of New York won. - Hope Adelaide is allright. This last effort seemed a real strain.
mr Speaker was truly better. Lezcano had already started easing him, sure to win, when Adelaide came up. Mr. Speaker started to pick up speed again and wouldn't have given up. Great reace. Both horses very deserving and more than three lengths upfront
So happy! So happy for Mr. Speaker. He deserves it.

Found this in Keeneland Barn Notes: Phipps Stable's homebred Mr Speaker, winner of Saturday's Coolmore Lexington (G3), is to make his next start in the May 26 Pennine Ridge at Belmont, according to trainer Shug McGaughey's assistant, Robbie Medina. The $200,000 stakes is for 3-year-olds going 1 1/8 miles on turf. And on to the Belmont Derby: But it’s the $1.25 million Belmont Derby Invitational at 1¼ miles on grass on July 5, the Grade I race for 3-year-olds .... (USA Today)
Agreed, great race. So happy, he won. Once he found his way through he seemed unstoppable. Wondered whether he even might like the lead instead of stalking. He is so amazing, seems so keen on running. Best of luck to him and his connections.
But it is a shame. Though I don't understand racing, it looks as if he could have been winning with his running style.
Really sorry he doesn't start. Looked like a fairly easy win, even the derby looked good for him. With all those speedy horses upfront... I don't understand horse racing... but sad am I, yes, took some of the excitement out of a great week-end.
Good boy! He seemed to love racing. Can't wait to see him again.
