This sounds interesting. Personally, I love the Equibase app, so I'm intrigued to see what would be the same and what would be different about the two.
If he wins, then I would say that it gives him a shot. Amazombie, who will likely be named Champion Male Sprinter, has two G1 wins, one G2 win, wins in 2 minor stakes races (MSR), two 3rd's in G1 races, one 3rd in a G3 race, and a 2nd in a MSR. If Regally Ready were to win the Hong Kong Sprint, that would give him two G1 wins, two G3 wins, one G2 win, a MSR win, and a 3rd in a MSR. At that point, it would really just be a matter of which races voters believed carried more weight: The Ancient Title and the BC Sprint or the Nearctic and the Hong Kong.
Still backing Empire Way, though I like So Brilliant, too. I'm interested to see Sky Kingdom, though, since he's another Empire Maker colt.
MMA had a great year, but I also think that HOTY is no contest. It's definitely HDG's award this year.
Good call on My Chuly, though I didn't pick her for the win. I agreed 'likin sparks' that Cherry Point was the one to beat. Will be watching these two in the future.
I put Cherry Point on top of My Chuly, and hit the win, place, and exacta for the two. Needless to say, I was thrilled.
I personally find the practice unacceptable. Furthermore, horses in America are not raised with the intention of them ever becoming food, so they often have drugs in their systems that the FDA has not approved for human consumption. Unlike the EU and the UK, we do not have a governing body that provides rules and regulations for slaughterhouses and implementing such a body would take time to put into effect. Putting our horses on plates would be risky at this point, and, during the interim, it would be hard for slaughterhouses to turn a profit. Is that really more humane? In a perfect world, we wouldn't be having this conversation, but there has to be a better way. We just need to take the time to analyze what would truly be best.
Amazing! Brian, I am really enjoying this series. This is one of the more famous moments in time, but I have learned some things from your other pieces. Cannot wait for what you have in store next.
If it were any other year, she might actually be the star of the show, but, unfortunately, My Miss Aurelia did her one better by handing her a loss in the BC Juvenile Fillies. I'm interested to see what kind of rivalry develops between MMA, Weemissfrankie, and Grace Hall next year.
Royal Delta has been returned to Bill Mott's barn and is reportedly being pointed at the Dubai World Cup.
