You know what, names really don't matter. It's just one thing more to attract uneducated betters. I think it is a good fit, though

Names may not affect the performance of a horse. But saying they don't matter is ridiculous. A horse with a catchy name will probably have more fans and than a horse with a generic name such as Princess or some other unoriginal and unappealing name. Then again, a good name is a matter of opinion. And the story behind a name can make an otherwise awful name more appealing. I was on the fence about the name Girls Rock N Rule, but the story of how she got that name makes me like it better. And since a name can affect the way a person sees a horse, it matters.

Not to contribute to the arguement, but names do make a difference on a horses popularity. My good friend (who has been deeply rooted in racing) couldn't stand IHA because of his name, even after winning the KD and Preakness, he still didn't like the horse.

And I am not saying a 12,500 claimer with a good name will have more fans than a GI winner with an awful name. So don't even go back to that. My point is, is that names DO affect the way a person sees a horse.

I loathed IHA's name. I was affected by it. I wanted to smack whoever named him. lol. But I liked the horse for his talent. Wished he had not gotten injured. ]8

Cocoa is a he first, and Cocoa only trolls those he hates because they have been biotchez to him in the past without reasoning. Cocoa knows much more than you do and would maybe share that knowledge with you if you'd stop picking on Cocoa. Cocoa puts incorrect writers on the spot, makes them get laughed at a little, and then they come back to HRN with a new cup that is empty and ready to be filled with correct knowledge, not an old one filled to the brim with incorrect data, info and opinions. Saying "end of discussion" is a interesting thing as it is achieves nothing, I'm mental, I'll rant to myself.

Again, I disagree. Take two horses with the same record, quality pedigree, times etc. The one with the more appealing name will undoubtedly have more fans.

no. A horse attracts attenion by good races. Take a terrible horse with a great name and you get minimal fans.
