I'll be the first to say it... I think Rule will be way overbet and is in big trouble in the FL Derby. He's got First Dude inside of him, and he's a horse with equal or better speed that won't want to give up the lead. First Dude ran a great race last time and thoroughly put away Colizeo, don't think he can't do the same to Rule. And Miner's Reserve and Radiohead have good speed in posts 9 and 11 - their only chance might be to gun for the lead from the outside. With all this speed, I look for Lentenor to get a very nice trip inside, and Soaring Empire, Ice Box and Pleasant Prince to put in some solid closes from behind.
Lentenor is going to be entered into the Florida Derby. Alan Garcia will ride.
A very nice filly, but the second coming of Ruffian, Rachel or Zenyatta she is not.
I don't know but he sure looked good in the Rebel.
All in all, I think you would have to say that Schoolyard Dreams flattered Rule with his close 2nd in the Tampa Bay Derby.
With a solid pace and a big run by Zardana, ultimately Rachel wasn't going to win this at 85% ready.
Pretty amazing how Odysseus came back in this race to nip Schoolyard Dreams at the wire. Still, it looked like the top three all puked in the stretch - finishing the final 5/16 in :32 3/5 seconds.
For what this guy has been able to accomplish, he's incredibly underrated. If he wins today, he should be considered one of the Kentucky Derby favorites, along with Eskendereya and Lookin at Lucky.
Uh Oh Bango has a big shot on Saturday. He gave Rule everything he could handle at Delta. Bango will sit right off the speed and inherit the lead when it wilts. If he's ready, he may not stop.
What was his previous name?
