I enjoyed reading your lead-up to the Oaks this spring Brian. Great job! I'm really nervous about picking Joyful Victory after she drew the rail so even though I will be rooting for her I'm going to be picking Daisy Devine. The Fair Grounds horses are off to a good start at Churchill so far.
Good point. I completely agree. Has Pletcher ruled R Heat Lightning out of the Derby?
She is real good... I don't think it's a huge stretch to say she has the best turn of foot of any three year old. I'd love to see her try a grass race down the road.
Great list, the Oaks field definitely took a sharp turn towards the "deep" category over the last couple of weeks. I think with the big general public crowd on Oaks day R Heat Lightning will go off a solid favourite being out of the Pletcher stable. I will also be trying to beat her. As far as the fillies vs the males; I'm not sure how many of these fillies want any part of 10 furlongs, I love when the fillies take on the boys and wish it happened more often but I don't see it being competitive this year.
Great reading Brian. I would have the top 6 in exactly the same order. I am definitely looking forward to Kathmanblu and Inglorious II in the Louisiana Oaks. Joyful Victory was really impressive, particularly because the pace was pretty hot and she was sitting relatively close to it. Larry Jones is a great trainer.
