Frank Alvarado, who had ridden Zakaroff in his previous starts, elected to ride Sheer Flattery...ouch!
A beautiful tribute...hopefully her legacy lives on in her filly. And also--the G2 Royal Delta Stakes is next week at Gulfstream...
Indeed, the only hopeful news, Her line continues...
The Paulick article said the filly survived.
Heartbroken beyond words....Rest in peace beautiful Royal Delta...http://www.paulickreport.com/news/bloodstock/champion-royal-delta-dies-age-nine-foaling-complications/#.WJ3DQbgpfW0.twitter
Not the best news--race like this you want your horse at the top of his game. Per DRF: Arrogate did develop an abscess on the inside of his right hind foot a
few weeks ago. Baffert pointed out on Thursday, when Arrogate was
paddock schooling before the races, that he has three-quartered that
hind shoe – filing off the part of the shoe nearest the abscess – a
common tactic used to try to prevent the abscess from being concussed by
the shoe and becoming a quarter crack.

Just saw this Arrogate update on Twitter: Christina Blacker @ChristinaBlackr 3m3 minutes ago Baffert tells me Arrogate will train on the training track today. Main track closed due to rain.
I'm so sorry to hear this....
