I'm an analyst not a commentator. Since I am constantly researching I just copied this announcement for you & it also verifies what I saw: Trainer Art Sherman just said California Chrome may have injured himself leaving the gate. Kicked rt [right] front leg with rt [right] rear."
FYI: it's called clipping as in clipping of hooves. Re watch the video & you will see that CC stumbles out of the gate, clips himself, then bumps off Matterhorn. If you watch his Sept. 4th race at Del Mar they show a front shot before the gates open where you can see how he likes to shuffle his feet in the gate. No biggy. Just something I had in my notes before handicapping the Belmont.
Btw: thank you for not trying to say it happened before the race or in the gate.
By whom? Victor Espinoza? He clearly stumbled out of the gate.
Shared Belief has matured into a nice turn of foot. California Chrome was unlucky in the Belmont is all. Notice it was his only race where the analysts didn't mention that he has gate trouble? Then to his bad luck he stumbled out, clipped himself, then went on to a lackluster 4th by only 2 lengths. That's horse racing...
Thank you for sharing your memorable visit with (imho) the greatest of athletes, wished they would've let her race on the world stage in Dubai before retirement, therefore it's great seeing that she appears to be a very happy broodmare =D
I think my year of watching worldwide G1 athletes compete would not be complete without Dubai -thank you HRN for providing coverage!
