People can eat other things besides a horse. to kill a horse, many of them are killed when they are still healthy and nothing is wrong with them..to kill them then, that is cruel.
Ferdinand's death is upsetting because he was killed because he wasn't wanted. He was still a good animal, he was friendly as some of his handles on one of the farms relayed. It's not fair that a gentle animal, who came when his name was called was killed because he was no longer "useful"
Nobody has the right to eat a beautiful horse! They are intelligent social animals. When they go to slaughter they get scared if they hear other horses getting upset. They are not dumb so who cares we can eat them. They trust us and do what is asked of them and then they get eaten? That is barbaric and cruel.
And NO you can't do what you want to a horse just because you spent 80 million on him. A horse has a right to live a happy and peaceful life, not be killed or tossed aside just because hey someone paid 80 million so they can do what they want. I don't think so.
what people forget is that of course I'll Have Another won't be dog food in the next three years, but 10-15 years from now, if he can't produce horse babies will he still be wanted? That is the concern. That concern is real even if he stayed in the U.S.
No horse should be slaughtered just because it is unwanted. True not all horses are slaughtered, but usually when they are no longer "useful" it becomes more of a possibility. There are a lot of horse rescues out there just because this is a problem
This horse has proven himself. It is beyond odd that American breeders pass over him. He deserves to be here in the states producing more good horses. I love this horse.
I hope I'll Have Another stays safe. He deserves a happy life in retirement. He gave his all and his heart. He did what was expected of him. I hope he is still remembered 10-15 years from now, and that he will always be cared for. No horse should be slaughtered because they are no longer "useful" for their owners. They should be shown more respect and not just used to make extra $$$
I just hope he stays safe. I would not suggest that all who go to Japan end up as dog meat, but it's so far away. If it is truly a good stud operation then that's good for I'll Have Another. He deserves the best. All horses do
