Saw today that connections nominated him to the Triple Crown. They must really like his recent development.
After reviewing Trakus for Jaime's Angel's MSW win I came away very impressed. He ran 71 feet further than the second horse who had the gold rail the whole way and still beat him by 5. If they run the same distance he wins by 14 lengths! He ran slightly faster than the Stakes race winner in the previous race while covering 51 more feet. I see they nominated him for both the Gander(NYB) and the Withers(GIII). Guess we'll see if this race was a fluke or a two turn horse coming into his own.
I don't know, she stopped pretty quickly on the gallop out which would suggest the mile is about her max distance, though she may just be smart and realizes the race is over and there is no reason to keep running.
Very impressive first out win for Taparri. Was very green and still won with authority. Looking forward to seeing her in a stakes next.
Really impressive the way she won her first race, never really asked, over some boys and her time is the best 2yo 5f at Monmouth among the recent MSW races. I would try her in open filly stake next like the White Clay Creek at Delaware Park.
While it is listed as a Maiden Claimer the claiming price was $100,000 so it was really a MSW. Flay Mignon bested the boys without ever being asked while running the 5f in an excellent time. Given the dearth of NJ Bred stakes I wouldn't be surprised to see her in an open company stakes next, maybe the White Clay Creek at Delware
Jimmer broke his maiden today, on the real Jimmer's birthday, pretty cool!
I'm guessing if he wins with any kind of authority he will come back in the DeFrancis Dash. Probably why they chose a race at Laurel.
Eightyfiveinafifty has been entered in a 5 1/2F AOC at Laurel on 9/15. Will be interested to see how he comes back. If he is near his previous best he should blow the field away.
