Jimmer broke his maiden today, on the real Jimmer's birthday, pretty cool!
I'm guessing if he wins with any kind of authority he will come back in the DeFrancis Dash. Probably why they chose a race at Laurel.
Eightyfiveinafifty has been entered in a 5 1/2F AOC at Laurel on 9/15. Will be interested to see how he comes back. If he is near his previous best he should blow the field away.
I'm all for bringing him along slowly, but the old 85ina50 WOULDN"T go slow. My point is that the fact that they could get a slow work into him means he's either matured and mellowed enough to be restrained or he isn't capable of it yet. Interested to see which it is.
See that Eightyfiveinafifty is back on thye worktab. Went 3 furlongs on the Belmont training track in a slow(for him) 37.88. Either he's mellowed a lot or he's not the same. GWill give him one more work to see if he picks up. Know he has been incredibly sick. Must not be any decent stud options or he probably would be retired after what he's gone through. Will watch with interest.
She absolutely inhaled her maiden field. Was only one closing late despite no pace to run at in Alcibiades, galloped out well past the winner. Probably best on grass, worth taking a shot in Juvemile Fillies Turf but will probably see her next in CD grass allowance.
Many people want to knock Mission Impazible's stamina capabilities and they usually try to do it through his dam, using Forest Camp as the example. What many people fail to realize is that Forest Camp is the ONLY one of La Paz's seven winners who failed to win a race at one mile or farther. MI's other graded stakes winning half brother, Spanish Empire, won going 10 furlongs in Allowance company and competed in 10 furlong stakes races.
The longer the stretch the better for Mission Impazible. In the Southwest he had to deal with an extremely wide trip and a very short stretch. Has an excellent chance in the Derby.
This colt has really moved forward since breaking his maiden in the slop at Gulfstream. Captured the OBS Championship on Synthetic with a gutsy performance. Next up is the Lanes End (G2) at Turfway. Only negative is he's never really fired on a fast dirt track. If he wins the Lanes End and the there is an off track for the Derby watch out!
