I can guarantee this...there's no way 8 horses will be bet heavier than Take Charge Indy. I'm not even a fan of the horse, but off the Fla Derby win and the simple fact its Calvin Borel, the horse will get bet a lot lower than he should be. The horse will be no worse than the 5th shot on the board when the gates open. Novice players who know nothing about the derby bet him just because hes won 3 of the most recent. Put him on an animal that actually has some form too, and he's no higher than 9-1 in my opinion. I mean, Twice the Appeal had ZERO chance in the derby last year and was 20-1 ML, and went off at 11-1. Battaglia even said the horse would have been 30-1 if any other jock was on him.
Are you saying you think Bodemeister can't get the distance??? Not sure how you could figure that...Empire maker won or placed in just about every race he ran in at or above 10 furlongs(including the derby and belmont). Grandsire is Unbridled, who won the derby...Mare is out of Storm Cat. Think he has every right to get 10 furlongs
SJU, yeah, i was more replying to other comments, and not your postings. As far as who is coming out of the Fla derby anymore, how many colts are supposed to impress you from each race. Maybe 1 or 2. Same can be said for a all the preps. HRTV ranked the Arkansas Derby the deepest prep. Two horses look like they have a shot from that race. Thats the sport. Theyre 3yo's...they change every week
I think its funny how obsessed people are with the time of the Florida Derby. Does anyone really care. The horse won the race. As i see it, that was easily one of the best fields of any of these major preps, and only one horse made any ground. Everyone essentially stayed in order from when they broke til the end of the race, except one horse went from last to first...I could care less what he ran it in. There were multiple graded stakes winners in the race, and 50 x better than the wood field. If people actually watch races you'll realize that dialed in has only been hit with a whip 3 times in his career. The horse gets hand ridden almost every inch of each race. Two cracks in the lane with the whip in Fla derby and he gets up. I'd rather not see him fully extended, all out. I wouldn't even have minded if he lost. Fact is, in terms of derby, he beat more in that Fla derby field than Uncle Mo has beat in his career. Hmmm, Champagne field and BC juv field colts have been 1 for about 23 in races since those 2 contests. I am supposed to be impressed by that???
Lol...I watch racing everyday of the week, and i actually sent an email to Oaklawn about a month ago telling them Terry Wallace is the worst announcer in NorthAmerica. If you watch that track daily, not only does he have the most dead air time of any announcer(because he has no idea where anyone iss on the track), but he also makes about 6-7 errors in horses names during races each card.
Forgot to mention that 4 of the 6 Champagne horses haven't even been able to win Allowance or Alwoc races, let alone even participate in a Stakes race
I've posted some comments in another post on here over the last day saying how overrated Mo is and recieved agreement and disagreement. The fields are a joke this horse is facing. I'm not saying there's a ton of substance to the 3yo division, but he certainly hasn't faced any of the top colts. They wrote the race for him at GP. It was a joke. 4 horses and two had never faced winners? He's beating nobody. How about this... between that field in the Champagne and the BC juv, Mo faced 14 different horses. You know how many wins those 14 horses have since the Champagne and the BCJ???? One!!! Stay Thirsty in the Gotham. If i have to read this horse being compared to Seattle Slew again im going to throwup.
LDP, ummm no, i didnt actually. I said the BC juv was a very nice win, incase you missed that part. I'm saying 3 of the 4 races were vs no one....and he's had the perfect setup every time. I don't exactly call sitting off of a 65-1 running 23'2 to the opening quarter in the juvenile rating well. I call it the perfect trip
I'll still never be fully sold on this horse until i can see him rate. We're talking about 4 races total. Maiden, where the track at the SPA was the biggest juicest up speed strip all summer, a weak Champagne with 5 other opponents, and the Timely Writer was a joke. 25'2 opening quarter vs 4 horses and 2 of them had never faced winners? Cmon...The horse is talented, i'm not denying that. The juvenile was certainly a very nice win, but he's had everything just perfect in all 4 races. Wait til the derby when he has 19 opponents, gets knocked around 6 times, never gets the lead and finishes 12th.
I love this horse too! I watch racing everyday of the week, and am constantly taking notes. The day that maiden at CD was run, i knew i'd be seeing this horse in the derby. He'll get all of my money on May7th when im at the derby to see it live
