Awesome post, Mary. These kind of amazing horses deserve the same spotlight enjoyed by graded stakes winners. After reading I feel as if I know Wyatt...very well written.
Perhaps he just had a bad day, but I don't think he liked the wet track in the Hopeful... I don't think he was outclassed. Guess we will see.
I didn't see the race, but read the chart lol. He sounds nice, made a good move, splits were nice
A very game effort from the both of them. I am looking forward to seeing how Wired Bryan develops. I suspect he experienced a little regression today off of his two runaway wins... But still, fought well and didn't give in.
I am curious to see what Wired Bryan can do. He charged away despite some pressure in his debut, and showed good movement. Pedigree-wise he has the potential to be more than a one-dimensional speed ball, but if he pulls that card tonight, he might be able to sweep them off their feet,
I like seeing speed in them at this age. Almost every horse capable of competing at the classic distance has shown speed at some point early in their career. Plodders don't do we'll in the Kentucky Derby. Now of course, I don't expect this horse to be seen anywhere near the Derby lol. But I'm not phased by his speed one bit. Closers are overrated.
He may well turn out to be nothing but a speedball, but his pedigree leaves plenty of other possibility. Most learn to settle as time goes on. And thank you! I will be posting more frequently now that the racing has started go heat up following the post Triple Crown lull. :)
Rafirox, I unfortunately do not have a link to Wired Bryan's victory. If you have an account on Twinspires, you may be able to dig through old results and watch it there if you're patient enough lol.
I am AWARE of who the flavor of the moment juveniles are, and like to scroll through the juveniles page for curiosity's sake. I like to make observations about them, but no promises and certainly no huge expectations thrust on their shoulders. Juveniles are fun to track. To me, it's like a game. That said, unless there is some spectacular standout with the perfect pedigree, depth, and development, I will not hang my hopes on any one horse. I may have a lil favorite of the ones we've seen so far (Wired Bryan at the moment) but I don't expect them to do anything big until they prove themselves A LOT more. I don't go out looking for a superstar, just for potentially good horses. If there is a superstar in the makings, you'd damn we'll believe they will make their presence known when the time comes.
Stopit, you're jinxing him! ;)
