Triple Crown? You wouldn't want to bet on that would you?
Nobody cares what his real name is.
She absolutely was not in front of Blame a half stride after the finish. She was never in front. Overhead view dispels that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLejHqQH2Ag&feature=related Can't go by the side view, once they cross the finish line the angle is distorted and the horse closer to the camera looks further along than they really are.
Let’s save the 100 posts and just sum up every single Zenyatta thread of the past 6 months in a few sentences. “Zenyatta was the best” “She only ran on synthetic and raced poor competition” Then someone with waaaaaay too much time on their hands lists every single G1 horse she beat. Then someone lists the mares they think are better. Then someone says “she’s retired, we’ve had this conversation 1000 times, move on” to which someone responds “if you don’t like it, don’t read it. We love her and want to talk about her” and then start back from the beginning again. The End
You are coming off a several year period where there were racing superstars here in the States. There are absolutely none now. Zero. ESPN is simply trying to pull the casual fan back in. Diehards are diehards, we will always be here, but in order to make money ESPN needs to attract a wider audience. You think a segment on Twirling Candy is going to do it? Most people would see that & say "who"?
The original comment is painfully ignorant, sorry it just is. I can just see people with absolutely zero racing knowledge other than Zenyatta's record looking at Secretariat's profile thinking, "he lost FOUR times! What's so great about that?"
The surface the horse is faster on is unique to the horse itself. Some run better on turf and some better on dirt. But in general turf is faster than dirt.
Overrated and retired now. Next
Love the historical perspective. Zenyatta beat more G1 horses than Ruffian so she is clearly superior? Hilarious. In her 10 starts Ruffian tied or broke 8 stakes or track records. Read that again. Many of her records still stand today. So we are to assume Ruffian would've broken a track record & lost? Riiiiiiight
Can't wait for the annual pilgrimage. 2 months to opening day. Obviously from my screen name I'm rather a fan of Saratoga. Drinks at Siros, Broadway after the races, breakfast at Beverley's. No place I'd rather be. Last year I played a round of golf at Saratoga Spa golf course & got paired up with Jorge Chavez. Where else can you walk onto a public golf course & get paired up with a Kentucky Derby & Eclipse winning jockey? It was awesome..
