Just read it, a fractured right leg, hope he's comfortable and they're taking good care of him!
I think it's too early to say
I'm very sorry to hear that, he's one of our top jockeys. I'll check out the story. Thanks for posting this, Mary.
I think Verrazano is a good horse and would certainly not rule him out on anything based on the KD. That didn't indicate distance limitations anymore than it did for IMLD.
it's all yours
I actually thought the coverage had improved. I remember past years they didn't show any part of other races. I remember having to flick back and forth with simulcast to catch the turf race right before the KD in other years.
the horse didn't have it today, I wouldn't blame Rosario for the Preakness loss
I agree that the turnaround was probably not ideal for him. Orb is a very solid horse and will be winning top races in the future. For those who really wanted a Triple Crown with him, I'm sorry. I know it's hard when a horse you love can't quite do what you want them to do -- thinking of Smarty Jones' Belmont, Afleet Alex's KD. It doesn't make him a bad horse, he'll be back to his winning ways soon.
I think there's a likelihood of race riding and Shug's probably not ecstatic about this post under the circumstances.
Secretariat's Belmont, 24 sec per quarter
