I'm with you, Ross. I think she had her usual finish, SW simply had a heck of a finish too. They ran the mile in sub 1:35. I just think Gary didn't think SW could keep going after going that fast.
Stellar Wind was being ridden hard from the turn to the wire. Only reason I questioned your easily statement. I'm not even interested in Gary's excuses. I am a bit concerned Beholder didn't look good on the jog out
glad i wasn't the only one that noticed that
easily? what race were you watching?
Was Gary overconfident or something? Didn't even start riding her until Stellar Wind passed her.
He wasn't overrated, he just never improved. Started good and stayed virtually as good as he started. It happens to many young horses actually. Not a new phenomenon
Reminds me of Moreno. Just when every second-guesser is sure Guillot should have already dropped him in class, he wins the Whitney. Guillot just keeps plugging until he gets the win he believes his horse is capable of getting
he may have simply found a home...he had a monster work over the track heading into the race. i wasn't convinced he could get the distance, but getting away with slow fractions certainly helped.
