Came out of the Preakness with a cut above his right eye that required a couple of stitches from hitting the gate. Otherwise he is fine.
Rated and won by some daylight. I really like this filly.
Since both of my choices are scratched.. Takeover Target / Ring Weekend / Za Approval / Grand Arch n/o
If a horse is sound in both mind and body and enjoys their job, I have no problem with older horse continuing to race. Look at Ben's Cat at age 10. When a horse continues to flounder in races (& or dropping in class and still not getting there) or is continuously sidelined by injuries etc then a retirement is definitely in order. While extremely tragic during a race or shortly after (Homeboykris for example) it seems even more so because it's in the public view. A cardiovascular incident can arise at any time. Any where. While walking the shedrow, in the breeding shed, standing in a field etc.
3rd & 4th lol
Copingaway / Conquest Windycity
Track officials believe he suffered a cardiovascular collapse
I hope nothing tragic happens the rest of the card. Not just in the Preakness.
Pramedya suffered a catastrophic injury in race 4. Jockey Daniel Centeno is being taken to the hospital for evaluation.
After rallying to win the first race on the Preakness day card- 9 year old Homeboykris collapsed and died after leaving the winners circle.
