Nonios looks like he's really on the improve right now.
Well, with IHA, Bodemeister and Paynter all out of the picture, I suppose this will be his best chance to win a big race. But I still have serious doubts about his talent-level. If he couldnt win the West Virginia Derby against those horses, I can't see him winning here. The 10 furlongs is just too far for this horse and I dont know why the connections can't see that. Hansen will be looking for a cab to take to the barn after 8 furlongs. As for being hot and humid for his last race, I'm preety sure it was the same temperature for all the other horses.....but I'm not positive.
Granted Shack is a better 7 or 8 furlong horse, but ya really can't say he can't "get" classic distances, he finished 4th in Derby and he won the Preakness.
I really wish it wasn't a muddy track.
I kinda wish they would have scratched him. Trying this distance for the first time in the mud, I'm not sure that's a great idea.
It wouldn't hurt to try. But they should try to keep him at a mile and against grade 2 or 3 horses.
I was just staing the races he won and the different distances that they were. I never said he was a great distance horse, however to win at those extreme distances is very rare , especially if he wins at 6 furlongs. How many horses have done that? You can probably count them on one hand. I'm talking about premier races where the competition is tough. He is a better sprinter than a distance horse, but the Preakness proves he can win big races at a distance. Right? Today will be tough racing at a distance that he's never tried, especially in the mud. Not good.
I agree....I was just telling ya what he said....lol
*don't plan on running him.
travel_vic......That's exactly what it is. Limited. He needs to run no more than mile races AND at a lower class. He just can't compete with the higher class horses. If he runs in the Breeders Cup, he'll get beat really bad. I hope they plan on running him.
