People were making speed figures in the 20's and 30's. Andrew Beyer is NOT the original creator of speed figures as we know them.
Nice review CDH...I'm looking very forward to this meet. Hawthorne offers up a big bang for the buck!
Agree with you there...Beyer and Assocs. should have hand timed the race(s)in question multiple times and better explained their reasoning than just opting for what they think is correct. It does seem the descrepancy at Gulfstream between the official and trakus times are much larger than at other tracks using Trakus
...erroneous....
There are times when the so-called official time is erronous. I make my own figures and do hand time many races as a check. Its not at all uncommon for completely bogus times to be recorded as official and never changed.
Agrre with Chris.....Caleb's Posse for 3 yr old. If not that, sprinter for sure!
This horse unfairly was dubbed many unkind nicknames...Giant Acorn and Giant Slug perhaps two of the better known monikers.Overall, he proved the naysayers wrong. He was a good horse even though he DID need things to be set up by others. A couple of the local trainers who relished referring to him as Giant Slug wouldn't know a good horse when they saw one!
We told ya you would love Hawthorne! Can't wait for them to open back up in 7 weeks!
Good job Chris....and to echo Brian....Glad we met and spent some fun and profitable days at both Arlington and Hawthorne!
Nice job Chris! I enjoyed following your action-packed weekend odyssey. Agree about Caleb's Posse...well derserving of the 3 yr old champion title. I'll take extra relish on mine please!
