I am happy for him. He was my early favorite before the injury.
Eqibase has IS as a scratch, when did that happen?
It does defiantly make for a feel good story, and I like the horse a lot as well. A very satisfying Oaks.
Wired the field. I love this filly c:
Carpe Diem and Tencendur are both descendants of Storm Cat- just as is Dortmond (His only distant link to secretariat.)
I am sure there are others as well, I just don't care to look. I found him in the first two horses I looked at.
Your point is void. You're welcome.
He is going to be slammed behind horses, unless he tries to gun for the lead. The last and only time he was stuck behind horses he became rank and finished 8th. He has been training fast I have a hard time believing Cassidy had any plan beside getting him up front. Who knows though, his sire was a deep closer.. And while that really has little to do with much, stranger things have happened.
That draw has to be absolutely heart breaking for Cassidy. The one slot was the worst possible position for ocho ocho ocho, especially when right next to Carpe Diem. They horse when from having the minutest chance for an upset, to no chance what so ever. The only thing he could accomplish now is set up sucicidal fractions with Carpe Diem. I know it isn't likely to happen, but I kind of hope they do what is best for the horse and pull him out.
My three picks as well C:
I'll also throw Eskenformoney in there to fill out the box. Not to win but end up on the board somewhere.
It's nice to see a good sized field for this race.
So, since derby fever has really started to take over for me, I had to take a little walk down memory lane .. I watched many of the previous runnings, enjoying each and every one. Until I hit 2006. I still to this day can not bring myself to re-watch the 2006 derby (And certainly not the Preakness). It makes me heart sick. While I had been around those who had casually watched, at minimum the derby I had never really gotten into myself until Barbaro. I had always appreciated the horses, but had never had one captivate me like he did. I was ecstatic when he won. I still can't be ok with it though. The would of/could have been's that will never be answered, are to much.
Lets hope they all run safe and strong this year. Good luck to all, bring on the derby.
