Nice to this guy around still. Not sure if a mile is his distance though. I've been away for a while. I hope to be following the southern California circuit soon.
Looks like he may be entered in the San Antonio.
The trainer of EGM has had a host of issues keeping his gelding sound. But with his 7th race in a row, its pretty apparent this is behind him. This is his biggest race in this last campaign, and he has not won a grade 2, only a couple of grade threes. Since he is a gelding, the graded events are not really a issue, other then to fulfill the owners ego. Its obvious its all about the purse money. I think the BC mile on the grass is the ultimate goal. But with a workout 5 days before the race on Saturday, and only one victory in a soft race in 6 attempts, it seems like this $150,000 grade 2 is a proper spot for him to return to his track record breaking form he set as a 3 yr.old in the San Rafael. Albeit the track was freaky fast which explains why the Beyer speed figure was only 99 in the San Rafael. Plus there a was a 3 way speed duel up front that EGM took advantage of. How do you post a video on the homepage?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOy_mGBlW9I
Do you think American Blend is ready to go 8.5 furlongs? His last race was 6.5 furlongs. Industry Leader closed very well at 8 furlongs in his last race.
This was happens when I don't type out my message beforehand. I'll repeat.

EGM hasn't gone 9 furlongs since 9-25-11. This race will just fill his racing schedule if the mile race on Saturday is taken off the grass because of rain. 8 furlongs looks much more appropriate.
In the 10th race at Santa Anita this colt has a sharp recent work 5 days before the race going :46.2 for 4 furlongs. Check out his last race at calracing.com on 1-8-12 and tell me he is not a enticing play at double digit odds. Lightly raced with a 2nd place in a grade 3 as a 2yr.old. So this optional allowance is soft coming off a layoff with a string a sharp works. Should be peaking for this race.
This Baffert trained colt is the only horse with a workout within 2-5 days of the RB Lewis on Saturday. Fresh with over 6 weeks rest, and a string of sharp workouts, including a very nice bullet move on 1-19-12, going 1:11 flat for 6 furlongs.
This gelding still holds the track record for a mile on the synthetic track at Santa Anita. This is his 7th race in a row, without a layoff. His longest string of races ever since he started racing as a 2 yr. old. He's not a stand out in the Beyer speed category, but I think this will be his biggest effort since his most recent campaign started on 9-3-11. A win place and show bet on this gelding with double digit odds is enticing. He's in the 3rd race on Saturday, the grade 2 Arcadia.
