He came back very heavy at Del Mar. I do not think Baffert has been able to train him the way he would like. Truth be told, I would love to see him sent to a top trainer back east. I do not know that his hooves can handle Bullet Bob's training style and the hard SA surface, and I don't think he likes poly.
Rydilluc is Barbaro's Brother From Another Mother!
I think he is Barbaro's brother from another mother.
Way too many breakdowns on that Santa Anita dragstrip to risk the greatest horse since Secretariat there. It would have been neat to see him attempt the Arc, but 12 furlongs is by no means his best distance in anyones estimation, so this is probably the route I would go if I owned him as well.
He is apparently a cheatin' sumbitch!
Great piece, Chris! Look forward to playing the ponies with you in 2012 at Arlington AND getting you and BZ down to Kentucky Downs, America
I applaud you for taking a strong stand, Brian. I think Mike Smith being on Astrology instead of this horse is a big indicator that Astrology is live, so that's my choice, as well as Sway Away for longshots in here. Good luck!
Scott, 1:13 for six furlongs aint rating? We dont know if Shack can sit behind horses, but he definitely proved he will relax up front. I am curious why everyone presumes Flashpoint will be in front when he couldnt even make Shack break a sweat in Florida
Astrology is the horse I am using with AK and Sway Away. I know Sway Aways reason for losing in ARK and suffice it to say I am playing him strongly this time. AK won the Derby easy, he may well be a Triple Crown horse. Astrology ran suicidal splits off the shelf in NM, then caught slop and had to go three wide on an Aqu surface that strongly favors inside speed. I think this is his first opportunity to show his best 3YO form.
We completely agree on Archie. He may even be on equal terms with Master of Hounds without really being used, but OUTSIDE of him. I think Court is confident he is on the best horse and just won't want him stopped. I disagree on Shackleford's spot. I see him taking back and letting the 5-6-7-17-18 fight thru the first turn. Romans is very confident he will rate and wants him to be in a nice open gallop without having to waste energy fighting early.
