Native Dancer has the most top class descendent's including all horses since he was an ancestor of both Northern Dancer and Mr. Prospector. He had two Derby winners in Kaui King and Dancer's Image who was disqualified for having bute in his system. One of the greatest blacks of all time was Sunday Silence and he has a daughter he did pretty well in Japan who could be considered the best white thoroughbred although not good enough to be called great. Prospector.
Secretariat, who she has in both sides of the pedigree was from Ol' Virginia. She has a white blaze on her chestnut body like he did too. He lost his first race and finished fourth. She also has the speedy Mr. Prospector twice. Even though she had a disappointing Breeder's Cup, she may get the chance to acquit herself with more honors in the future.
Maybe they're not ashamed. I didn't say they were. I said they should be. Look at his conformation.Look at his Pedigree: Princequillo three times, Secretariat and Northern Dancer twice, Mr. Prospector, Round Table - a veritable who's who. Of course, there is no proof he would not have been a grade one winner without having been gelded. Horse racing is a game of speculation and you surely have as much right to your opinion as I do mine. As a champion, his story should be written into a book and probably will be after he finally retires. Then we'll hear why his potential genetic contribution to the breed will never be realized. What do you think of his pedigree?
Rachel Alexander had a great three year old season and Zenyatta was passed over despite winning the Classic. Despite Curlin losing the Classic he still got HOY. Does anyone think this year's Classic winner will get HOY? No. The Eclipse awards are great and the controvrsey and debates add interest in horse racing during a time of year when horse racing has few big names in action gets even less attention from the general public.
Zenyatta had been passed over the year before despite competing in the Filly and Mare championship at the Breeder's Cup. Blame had also lost that year and a head victory at his home track running a much shorter total distance hardly showed he was clearly superior. Zenyatta is one of the most charismatic racehorses ever.
Wise Dan should win again. Whoever gelded him should be ashamed. The best horsemen do not have to resort to that with a horse that has great breeding.
At least he's won a lot more than Oxbone. Lukas sent his rabbit to harass Orb and pin him down in the deep going on the rail and Goldencents did not have the sense to challenge the Ox for the lead. Lukas and Stevens masterminded the win leaving Shug with nothing to do but Shrug.
Don't forget Native Dancer and Risen Star and Little Current.
Will Take Charge no adapta bien a una pista majada.
travel_vic The record holder in the Travers is General Assembly. He was sold to Germany. I am always amused that certain stallions fall out of favor and then get few opportunities. I am amazed that the fastest horse in our lifetime is represented by so little cross-breeding. By fastest, I mean over a distance, but Secretariat also put up some excellent speed figures at shorter distances as well. When Canadian Bound sold for an astronomical figure and then did not race, people complained Secretariat was no good at stud. It could be that some of his greatest attributes were recessive and would not be reproduced without more cross-breeding. Since fourty years have passed there has been little attempt to do so. What are you waiting for?
