Nice call, Humphrey. Better to focus on races with vulnerable favorites than to try and beat a Pletcher shipper working at SAR.
This one is shaping up to be a great betting race.
Congrats, Jarrod, on picking the winner and including Jackson Bend in the top five. Nice consensus call on Yawanna Twist as a playable long shot and Paddy O'Prado a complete toss. Even a few mentions for First Dude.
Agree, Cigar, seeing his name mentioned all over the place. Seems we're all over thinking this one. Consensus appears to be Lookin At Lucky and Super Saver are logical. Caracortado and Schoolyard Dreams deserve respect. Paddy O'Prado could go either way. Of the forgotten horses, Aikenite and Northern Giant could produce great value in the 4 hole of a superfecta.
Other thoughts...Listen to Jeremy Noseda when he says he questions a horse's ability to get the Derby distance...In more open Derby fields, winners get the clean trips...Always question a front runner's ability if all his prep races are run slow early and fast late...If there are four or more speed horses in the field, commit to mid-pack closers...All fillies aren't Eight Belles and Rachel Alexandra...Never handicap off less than four hours sleep!
Taking 9 and 14 out of the fourth tier of my Derby Superfecta ticket after I realized I was over my Youbet account balance by a few dollars...and watching $101,000 go bye bye because of my own stupidity
Have you checked out Zenyatta's page on this site? Pretty cool and all the video replays you'd love to watch over and over again
So, we have to wait until the outcome of the Derby Trial this Saturday to see who's in and who's out. Looks like Pleasant Prince or Drosselmeyer would have to win to get in.
I would be more interested in plans to sell Zayat.
Tampa Bay Derby was one of the more impressive wins of the Derby contenders
