I agree with you.
Actually Gun Runner beat a grade 1 winner in the Louisiana Derby in Greenpointcrusader.
He set a stakes record in the Santa Anita Handicap at 10f beating two champions in Mucho Macho Man and Will Take Charge and came damn close to a track record. He ran huge in his last race in the Pacific Classic setting and absolutely suicidal pace to only get beat 5 lengths by the monster that was Shared Belief, a race he won easily the year before. I'd say he was quite capable at 10f. If by chance you have not seen his Big Cap performance you should take a look, it was a thing of beauty.
Just saw it on O'Niell's Facebook page, they changed the name to R Sunday Surprise. Wise move!
He was, there was a lot of buzz about this horse since he was a foal. Anyone who saw him thought very highly of him. We will see if he's got what it takes, I think he does.
Wow that's right, can't believe I forgot about Candy Boy. Bad memory I guess.
Possibly, California Chromet is terrible though.
Couldn't find her on equibase under this name and when I searched by dam and birth year it shows her name as California Chromet?
Looking fantastic again this morning! https://www.facebook.com/KentuckyDerby/videos/10154180479387472/
I don't think many of Candy Ride's progeny have made it to the Derby. Off the top of my head the only one I can think of is Sidney's Candy who finished 17th.
