Good post for Chrome, I think he should do well. I don't know that he can beat Lea though.
Upstart always shows up, will be very tough to beat here.
This was my issue with the whole Breeder's Cup drama, if Moreno had been allowed to run his race he would have been dueling with Bayern for the lead and I don't see Bayern winning this race if that had happened.
I believe he ran a much more impressive race than his beyer number suggests. The Turfway poly is a slow playing track and Dubai Sky ran the fastest Spiral since 2009 when it was the Lane's End Stakes. He ran it a little over 2 seconds faster than Animal Kingdom did in 2011. I know you can't compare how a track is running today to how it ran 4 years ago but he was also ran it almost 2 seconds faster than We Miss Artie did last year and in the race before the Spiral, the Bourbonette Oaks, the mile went in 1:38.60 and Dubai Sky hit the mile in 1:36.98 all while being on or very near the lead the whole way. I'm not saying he will win the Kentucky Derby but this guy seems to be something special, it would certainly be something if this guy who very few people knew who he was before Saturday wins the Derby with all the big talent in there this year.
Thanks! I thought it would have been higher, I thought he ran a hell of a race.
J please post his speed figure when you have it.
I'm thinking Dubai Sky has a very good shot here. Besides being a winner and first time lasix, Bill Mott must see something in him to reschedule him for the Spiral instead of re-entering him in the Palm Beach. I assume he's looking to get some points for the Derby and he wouldn't be doing that if he didn't see something special in the horse. Also he has only run on turf but synthetic is what most Candy Ride's are best at, look at Sharef Belief he can run on anything but is a monster on synthetic. Dubai Sky for the win here!
If Dubai Sky takes to the surface like his breeding suggests he will have a gate in the Derby after tomorrow.
Nice competitive field, we will see if Dubai Sky has got what it takes. Bill says he always gives just enough to get the win and always seems to have something left in the tank, he's going to need it here.
