I hope Camelot wins the Irish Derby; it'll be brilliant if he does!
She's a champion all right, winning after facing such adversity.
Icyhotboo, I would like an apology from you please, for your rudeness to me in your previous post on this thread. I was apologising to other people for my long posts, and I had to explain that you were the first one to mention Frankel on what I thought was supposed to be a Black Caviar thread. I'll delete the rating I gave Frankel as well, as I have offered to do, even though I have yet to hear from you on that. I hope we can sort out our differences.
I agree with you about Black Caviar, Mary Z, she is brilliant, she wins even in adversity.
Sorry for the long posts, I just have a lots of things to say to people, and, for the last time this post was never meant to be anything to do with Frankel. I've already said, it was Icyhotboo who brought Frankel into this Black Caviar thread, not me.
Mary Z, the important thing is that she won. To me, Black Caviar looked if she was going easily, and I'm certain she would have won by much further if Luke Nolen had asked her, and if he hadn't made that error. She was definitely not running out of steam, Luke Nolen simply stopped riding too soon.
From one race, there's no way anyone can tell far Black Caviar could beat Moonlight Cloud by, especially given Luke Nolen's error of judgement, so to say that Black Caviar cannot run with Frankel just doesn't make sense. For me, the important thing is that she won, running in unfamiliar conditions, after having come halfway round the world.
Cocoa2, I don't know what you mean about your reasoning making more sense than mine about the Irish; I thought I made perfect sense in that post I made earlier. I addressed it to Icyhotboo by mistake; apologies to both of you for the mix-up. I will however stand by what I said in that post; I have never said anything against Coolmore, Galileo, or Irish horsemen, and Sea The Stars, who is one of my top-ranked horses and one of my favourites, was bred and trained in Ireland, raced in Ireland, and stands at stud in Ireland. Also, Camelot who, I think, is another of my top-ranked horses, was bred by Coolmore, sired by the late Montjeu, who was another top Coolmore racehorse and stallion. I have never said anything against Montjeu either. Incidentally, I happen to prefer Coolmore to Godolphin, and that is not a dig at Godolphin, merely my personal preference. I have said elsewhere that my dislike of Frankel has nothing at all to do with where he's from, and as for the other horses who I ranked 3, I had no idea that they had Irish connections when I ranked them, and if I had known, it wouldn't have mattered to me, because it really doesn't worry me where a horse comes from. Just to let you know, I happen to be South African.
Icyhotboo, I actually do understand horseracing, and I have already said that all of us on here can give any horse any rank we want to. I understand that the rankings that we give horses on here are our own personal opinion, not official in any way. I don't know what you mean about 'perpetual voting', because I have only ranked a small number of horses, and it has been a while since I last ranked a horse. I have offered elsewhere to remove the ranking I gave Frankel if it offends you, and I have yet to hear from you on that. Please let me know as soon as possible about that. I have never downrated any 'historical horses of great stature' either. Switch360, I don't see anything odd about saying what one likes in the privacy of one's own home, and just because I said that there are worse things that one could say about Frankel if one really wanted to trash him doesn't mean that I would say such things about him in private.
Cocoa2, I also meant to say that this thread was never meant to have anything to do with Frankel. All I that I said in my first post was to agree with the original poster about Black Caviar, and say that I was looking forward to the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. I had no intention of saying anything about Frankel on this thread, and I did not mention Frankel at all until Icyhotboo started talking about him, and I felt obliged to reply.
