This is a wide open race. I'm not sold on Battalion Runner. He could win this however, as the field is weak. Unless someone takes a giant step here the Derby winner is elsewhere.
Probably should have 25 points for the winner. May be 25-15-10-5 breakdown. If the winner is good enough he would have had some points prior to this race and would have enough points to get into the Ky Derby field.
King and His Court will appreciate being back on an all weather oval. Had a decent record at Woodbine.
Dilettante - Shareholder Value for my stab.
I believe Mastery is injured and out of consideration for the Derby. He probably would have been one of the favorites for the Derby.
I like McCraken and a few new ones making their graded debuts in the next few weeks.
The Derby winner probably will not come from the west coast unless somebody emerges in the SA Derby. So far most of the hot horses have not done well. This year it seems the Derby will be wide open.
Love Untrapped, but I see a pattern developing where once he hits the lead he doesn't go by the other horses. I hope I'm wrong, but I think that's why he has run 2nd in a lot of races. Talented horse no doubt, but going longer he may fade out of the exotics after his big move into the stretch.
Against 5 horses and all 5 weren't as good as this field. He also didn't have to break from post 10 with 4 other speed horses inside of him.
Untrapped has the best shot in my opinion. I think Uncontested may bounce back and run 2nd with AA and Lookin at Lee for the minors.
But if you still like Royal Mo bet him.
Royal Mo won't win from the 10 hole with that much speed inside of him. If he somehow out breaks all other speed he'll stop before he hits the stretch, because he will have used himself up getting the lead. Race really sets up for the mid to late closers.
5 Untrapped, 2 uncontested, 7 American Anthem 11 Lookin at Lee
