15 times? are you seriously mad about that? Horses aren't glass, they probably break down so damn much because they aren't prepared enough! Its people who treat them like glass that destroy them like glass. California Chromes owners have raced Chrome more times this year and last year than many of the "top studs" in the breeding shed have ever seen the track! It doesn't matter how many times you race them, it matters how you treat them before and after the races that matter. How is it back in the 1930s or even earlier, that a single horse could race 50-60-70 times in its career spanning from 2yrs - 5yrs old and never break down or go lame once? Because those were die hard trainers back then that didn't treat their horses like they are fairies.
The QUEEN drugged her horses, Steve has drugged horses. There is no room for one-sidedness in the horseracing industry. Hate one trainer? Hate 90% of other trainers because 90% of other trainers have done the same thing to their horses.
Well if you don't like him I can respect your opinion, but don't act like he has done anything worse than any other "top" trainer out there.
Your comment is laughable, "Union city and many unknowns that never got off the farm" Stop trying to add on horses that you don't even know about to make your comment justified. Lady Secret mentally destroyed? lmao... come on... she died due to giving birth not due to Lukas training. You are the type of person who hates with ignorance. If you are going to play the death game, then how about you count up how many horses have died under Todd, Bob, and other top named trainers noses? You cant hate on one when many are guilty.
I agree 110% about the fact horses are raced less than 10 times then sent to the breeding shed. Horse racing is about racing and about showing who the best of the best is, not just retiring them because they won 6 out of 7 starts. I am extremely happy with CC's trainers not retiring him after the TC races, many owners WOULD retire them, but CC is a hardy horse with a lot of heart and gut, his loss in the Belmont hasn't touched him.
I really don't and in my opinion a tired horse isn't a ruined horse. A ruined horse is one that has broken down multiple times or hurt themselves good enough to not race again, but Lukas has don't nothing to ruin WTC. I also can point out almost every trainer has experienced a horse that has broken down or gone lame. Willy is Lukas baby.
3rd isn't horrible :)
What is he going to ruin? There is nothing to ruin, WTC is a healthy big boned horse and hasn't shown any form of "ruination" he has always been sketchy in his races since he first started running. He is 17 hands tall and had to grow into himself. WTC has raced against horses such as Game On Dude and has finished 2. Palace Malice cannot even touch the losing end of WTC. WTC is an impressive loser. There is no excuse FOR his losses, but he is a tank and Lukas hasn't done him any damage. Why hate on a trainer like Lukas who takes the time out of his day to spend time with his horses instead of hating on the ones who give orders then sit back and hope for the best? Wayne also has great moral beliefs when it comes to the medicine horses get and he made a HUGE point about Lasix (video is on youtube). Just my opinion though.
Will Take Charge is a high class horse and a horse that I consider a machine. He is strong boned, very determined and gorgeous to top it off. He has raced against some of the best so far. Just because he doesn't win every single race he is entered into, does NOT discourage the heart this horse puts out on the track. I love watching him run.
I want Wicked Strong to win this one
